Another calendar year has almost come to an end. This year has been very busy for us as a business and I bet you are looking forward to a break as much as we are. We have noticed this year that our practice has grown from continued referrals from our existing clients as well as our existing clients growing themselves. On the whole, business seems to be booming. We are expecting to appoint a new staff member next year to support this growth.
There are a lot of business-related points to consider before going on your well-deserved break. I suggest you read the notes below and articles in the side-bar to help assist you over the coming months.
It's best to plan ahead and put a few dates in your calendar... For those clients that we complete GST returns for please note that we will require your information by 11 December. This is for the October/November GST period. For those on Xero that code their own transactions we will require your reconciliations up until the end of November completed by 11 December. Payments to IRD will be due by 15 January.
We will be sending out the 15th of January Provisional Tax notices shortly. If you feel that your taxable income has changed substantially from the 2018 financial year and feel you may have more or less tax to pay in the 2019 year, do get in touch so we can see about adjusting your provisional tax.
It's important you don't neglect your tax obligations - especially as the IRD will charge 8.22% interest and late payment penalties if you don't pay on time. For a list of helpful suggestions to help you get tax-ready before Christmas see here.
Our office will be closed from 18 December - 14 January. Luke will be checking his emails periodically over this period.
Seasons Greetings to you and your families.
