At Flashpoint Accounting we like to think of ourselves as a 'boutique' accountancy and business advisory company. 'Boutique' because we offer a special type of service to our clients which we believe differs from some other accountancy practices. These include but are not limited to:
- No Hourly Charge Out. Before we start on basic compliance work you get a single price, with no extra charge at the end of the year. You may have to change how you do a few things so that it streamlines with our systems, but the result is that you will spend less time on figures and more time on your business. Oh and you can call and ask questions as often as you like.
- We come to you. We understand you are busy and your premises are 'where it's happening' wherever possible we will meet you at the place that suits you best. This means you have as little disruption to your business as possible.
- Hands On. We take an active interest in all our clients businesses, and will often call or call in for a chat just to see how you are going and if there is anything that we can help with.
As you would expect we do all the usual accountancy stuff that the other accountants do, we just believe that we do it in a more client focused and friendly manner than the rest. Some of the service packages we provide are ...
Luke Canton BBS MTINZ
I was born in Auckland, New Zealand and lived for 30 years in Whangaparaoa, Auckland. I currently live in magical Mangawhai on five acres of paradise with my three children, Renée, Olivia and André.
I went to school at Orewa College and Massey University in Albany. After completing my degree I left New Zealand and lived in Brazil for six months then London for a further six months. Upon returning to New Zealand I spent the summer as a paid lifeguard at most of the beaches in the Northern Region (just like Piha Rescue).
When the season cooled down I started at ASB bank but didn't enjoy working in a large organisation where good ideas and drive are often smothered by overwhelmingly large bureaucracy.
I left the bank to start in accountancy in 2003 with Grant Vennell Ltd. When Grant passed away at an unfortunately young age I stayed on with the new business owner Baldry and Sanford Ltd.
At the start of 2010 I took the leap to start in business for myself. This was not the first time I had been self employed. I have operated an underwater boat cleaning business, setup and run a pizza business in Orewa with friends as well as being heavily involved with two businesses in the building and construction industry. This was just the first time I had left paid employment for some time.
I have also bought (and sold) a number of properties as well as having been involved in a number of land and building projects.
I enjoy boxing, paintball and swimming when I can. I spend a large portion of my spare time working on our land or in the workshop tinkering and being around family and friends.
I aim to deliver a more relationship based service than most accountants, as this is how I enjoy doing business, and feel that this provides the best value to business owners.
I am a member of the tax agents institute of New Zealand and adhere to their ethical standards as well as their ongoing educational requirements.
